Usage of high-speed wind rings.

Guangdong Plastic Packaging Materials Company specializes in the production and sale of LDPE/LLDPE daily packaging films, agricultural films, and industrial protective films. The company operates a three-layer co-extrusion blow-molding production line that has been in operation for several years, equipped with a standard dual-air-channel cooling fan ring. As market competition intensifies, customers face the dual pressures of capacity constraints and quality improvement.

The existing standard dual-draft air ring had the following problems:

· Inadequate cooling efficiency: The single-air-intake design results in low utilization of cooling air, inadequate film cooling, and directly hinders production output.

· Poor stability of membrane bubbles: Adjusting airflow relies on manual operation of fans, making precise fine-tuning impossible. The quality of membrane tube formation fluctuates significantly,

and maintaining consistent thickness and uniformity is challenging.

· Inadequate transparency: Cooling rates are not uniform, resulting in higher crystallinity of the film, and the product’s transparency does not meet the requirements of high-end packaging customers.

· Clear capacity bottlenecks: Production has reached the upper limit of the original wind ring design, yet there is still excess capacity in the extruders and molds that cannot be utilized.

After a technical evaluation and comparison of options, the customer decided to upgrade the existing standard dual-windway air ring to a high-speed dual-lip air ring system. This system employs an optimized dual-airway design, where the first and second air streams are coordinated and do not conflict with each other. The airflow closely follows the membrane, extracting a significant amount of heat, thereby achieving rapid and uniform cooling. The air ring is equipped with independent ventilation ports on both the upper and lower levels. The upper-level ports focus on rapid prototyping, enabling precise control over the cooling gradient.

Customer feedback

“After replacing the high-speed dual-lipped wind ring, the production output increased by 35% directly,

and the transparency of the film also improved significantly. Previously, high-end packaging orders that were unfeasible were now fully achievable.

The return on investment period was even shorter than expected.”
